Raise the Rates Week of Community Action October 12 – 20
The Raise the Rates Campaign is holding a week of action to fight the attack on ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) and demand living income for all in this Province. Actions will be held across the Ontario throughout the week, and uniting for a Provincial convergence Saturday, October 19th in Sudbury.
In place of the endless talk of this Government about ‘poverty reduction’ we will be taking action!

Saturday, October 12th: Feast for Fairness – Campaign to Raise the Minimum Wage! Under the banner of “Poverty Wages? NO THANKS!” this event will be just one of many province-wide actions taking place around the Thanksgiving weekend calling for a $14 minimum wage, and in alliance with the Raise the Rates Week of Action from Oct. 14-20. https://www.facebook.com/events/150760811800205/

Monday, October 14th – ‘Thanksgiving’ Raise the Minimum Wage action; meet at 12 noon at McDonald’s on Notre Dame; walk to Tim Horton’s downtown. Both McDonald’s and Tim Horton’s oppose raising the minimum wage.

Tuesday, October 15th – The Graduate Student Association (GSA) anti-poverty film showing of “Invisible City” at the Mackenzie Library, 6:30pm. Free snacks.

Friday, October 18th – Free Meal and Anti-poverty March focusing on restoring the CSUMB and ensuring in the meantime that Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) maintains at least CSUMB rates and policies. Memorial Park, 2pm.

Sign onto our Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit letter here, and let the government know to reverse the cut to CSUMB, and additionally provide adequate rates of Social Assistance benefits so that people can live with health and dignity.
