Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,

Water connects all of us. The United Nations recognizes access to clean water and proper sanitation as a human right. Yet across Canada many First Nations communities don’t have access to clean drinking water. This is a problem that has faced First Nations communities for years. Some communities have had boil water advisories for more than 20 years!

Your government has promised to end drinking water advisories in First Nations by 2021, yet there is scant evidence that this will actually happen.

Can you tell me how you plan to achieve this and what progress you have made so far?

Will you also commit to create a National Water Policy that respects Indigenous water rights and recognizes the human rights to water and sanitation?

Sincerely,
