Dedicated workers from Canadian Hearing Society offices across Ontario have been on strike since March 6.
By putting your name to the letter below, you can let Canadian Hearing Society CEO Julia Dumanian and the board of directors know that CHS workers provide vital services to the Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing people of Ontario by doing emotionally and physically demanding work. They deserve fairness and respect.

Dear Ms. Julia Dumanian and Mr. Timothy Andradé,
I am writing to express my support for the striking workers at Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) offices across Ontario and my dismay at the actions of CHS management.
These dedicated workers provide vital services to 36,000 Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing people in Ontario. Many of these workers rely on CHS services themselves. They provide this service by doing work that is emotionally and physically demanding.
These workers have gone four years without a contract. At a time where the two parties should be working together to put the past four years behind them, CHS is trying to impose significant rollbacks to employee health benefits. Employee health benefits were bargained for by a workforce that is predominantly female, many of whom are from the Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing Community. Health protections are important and necessary to allow these workers to continue to provide the services that people rely on.
After four years without a contract, Canadian Hearing Society workers deserve better. The union has attempted to find solutions that work for both its members and CHS, but these proposals have been rejected or ignored.
I am calling on CEO Julia Dumanian and the Canadian Hearing Society Board of Directors to get back to the table and work with CUPE 2073 on an agreement that works for everyone. The Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing Community in Ontario supports the people who provide them with the services they rely on. If you care about this community, you will get back to the table and negotiate a fair deal.
