Members of CUPE 82 and 543 voted Jul. 24 to ratify an agreement with the City of Windsor and end the 2nd longest strike in the city’s history.

Jim Wood, President of CUPE 82, said: “Wrongly blaming workers for the recession, Mayor Francis and Council tried to cut real wages and benefits and impose a double standard with retirement benefits for themselves but not workers. That’s what forced this strike.”

Strike Appeal for CUPE Local 543 and 82 from Sid Ryan and Fred Hahn

CUPE Local 543 & 82 have been on strike for over three months, holding strong against an employer who has stooped to bullying tactics and intimidation in an effort to shake their resolve.

In spite of this, these CUPE members remain committed to a better Ontario for all Ontarians and need your support to win this strike.

The locals have been running an online action, asking supporters to email Windsor City Council.
