TORONTO, Ont. – On Monday, January 13, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) will make a major announcement regarding its position on Bill 122, the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act, at a news conference at Queen’s Park.
At the news conference, CUPE Ontario president Fred Hahn will be joined by national president of CUPE, Paul Moist, and Terri Preston, chair of CUPE’s Ontario School Board Coordinating Committee.

Bill 122 received 2nd reading in December and is scheduled for fast-track passage through the legislature later this month.
CUPE represents 55,000 support workers in public, Catholic, French and English school boards across the province. These workers are the educational assistants, school secretaries, instructors, early childhood educators, community advisory staff, food services workers, library technicians, custodians and others who are the backbone of our education system.
