Dan Glenn-Graham

Dan was born in Toronto in 1962, and has lived in Kitchener for almost 20 years, the last 17 years in a designated heritage home at 25 Maynard Avenue (built in 1872), near Centre in the Square.
Dan has been happily married to Bev for almost 20 years and they have a weimaraner, Bratty (short for Bratwurst), and a cat, Finnegan (remember Casey and Finnegan).
Attending the University of Toronto, Dan graduated with Honours in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy.
Dan was on the executive of Student Council at the University of Toronto.
In Kitchener, Dan became deeply committed to our community as soon as he moved in; joining the local neighbourhood association and becoming President of what is now the Olde Berlin Towne Neighbourhood Association for the last 12 years.
Dan has also been a Chair of the Downtown Neighbourhood Alliance for over 6 years and helped this group to oversee programs at the Downtown Community Centre and deal with issues that are common to downtown neighbourhoods.
Graduating in 2004, Dan has been active in Leadership Waterloo Region on the Alumni Committee and collaborated with numerous alumni on local community projects. This is a key program of leadership development that has helped to shape Dans knowledge of the key issues facing communities, as well as develop a strong network of partners that are now alumni.
Dan has been President of St. Mary’s Finance Council for over 10 years, overseeing their budget and capital projects and helping to lead the church to a balanced operational budget.
In recent work with the City, Dan participated in the Growth Management Committee and the Increase Voter Turnout Committee as well as met as part of the Kitchener Market Collaborative, a group of vendors and community volunteers that partnered with the City for the success of the market.
This August 2010, Dan took a seminar in London called Fundamentals of Municipal Finance at his expense to ensure that he has the right skills to hit the ground running and ask intelligent questions to make every tax dollar count! Please ensure that you consider that the person you vote for has this important understanding!
In his day job, Dan is a trained mediator and uses alternative dispute resolution skills daily to assist workplace parties to solve problems related to a safe return to work for injured workers.
Dan has also written a number of articles for the KW Record as a member of their Community Editorial Board.
In short, Dan is very committed to Kitchener and the downtown community and looks forward to moving Kitchener from good to “Grand”.
