TORONTO, Ont. – Ontario’s largest union, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), and its President, Fred Hahn, will host busloads of supporters from across Southern Ontario on Day-One of a three-day, 72 hour “Solidarity Rally” outside the ECP plant in Brantford, Ontario, starting at 5:45 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

The rally, supporting ECP workers, members of USW Local 1-500, now in the second year of a strike, will call on Ontario to follow the example of BC and Quebec by adopting anti-scab legislation to prevent rogue employers from hurting communities, like Brantford, by dragging strikes out as the ECP management has done.

Day-Two of the rally will be hosted by the CAW and Day-Three by ECP workers’ own union, the United Steelworkers.
