WILD - Women in Leadership Development

Calling all Indigenous, Black, and racialized CUPE women, it is time to apply to CUPE Ontario’s Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Program!

Our time is now. It is time for us to break barriers, build our capacity as feminist leaders and dive into leadership development in our union and our communities.

At the 2019 CUPE Ontario Convention, members adopted the Anti-Racism Organization Action Plan (AROAP) with the goal to address the systemic underrepresentation and exclusion of Indigenous, Black and racialized members in our union.

As part of AROAP, CUPE Ontario launched the first cohort of the WILD program for Indigenous, Black, and racialized women in 2022.

This impactful and successful capacity building program equips Indigenous, Black, and racialized women to further think and act strategically and critically, build capacity to communicate with confidence, take risks and build bridges. The women of WILD are a crucial part of workers building power across the labour movement.

Past participants have openly shared how the program left them feeling more inspired, creative and courageous, encouraging them to move into various leadership positions.

The program will consist of:

  • A virtual orientation in September 2024
  • An in-person 5-day orientation in October 2024
  • A leadership project
  • Working with a feminist mentor
  • A closing weekend session in Spring 2025

We are looking for members from affiliated locals to CUPE Ontario who:

  • Identify as an Indigenous, Black, or racialized woman
  • Bring leadership experience or are new activists
  • Come from across the province and sectors

If this program speaks to you, apply by July 2, 2024. Contact [email protected] if you have any questions or need more information and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
