TORONTO, ON – Academic workers at the University of Toronto and York University will hold a rally on Thursday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m. outside Simcoe Hall on the University of Toronto Campus. The rally comes hours before workers at the University of Toronto will be in a legal strike/lockout position.
The workers are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3902 at the University of Toronto, and CUPE Local 3903 at York University. The York workers will be in a legal strike/lockout position next Wednesday. Both groups remain at the table and are working to reach a fair agreement with their employers.
Speakers include CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn and representatives of both locals.
