Emergency After Hours Staff (EAHS), members of CUPE 2316.1 at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto have been on strike since July 27. These members have been trying to secure a first collective agreement for more than two years.

Management has not responded to updated proposals from CUPE. It’s time for them to get back to the bargaining table. Let’s get a contract!

The 23 members of CUPE 2316-1 provide around-the-clock service to children at risk, 365 days a year. In addition to working for CAST, they are also contracted to support Native Child and Family Services – Toronto. These workers are the only resource available to children and families in urgent need between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m., during the weekend and on holidays. They have been working for more than two-and-a-half years to get a first contract from their employer.
