Every paramedic across Ontario feels the weight of the tragic deaths of two Prince Edward Island Paramedics. We join paramedics and all first responders across the country in mourning their deaths and the patient they were caring for.

Paramedics go to work every day to keep people safe and healthy. Too often our jobs involve personal risk, pain, and trauma. Paramedics carry that, as do our families and loved ones.

The CUPE Ambulance Committee of Ontario, representing 6,500 paramedics across the province, stand in solidarity with our colleagues in CUPE PEI and CUPE 3324 as they mourn this unimaginable loss. Every paramedic understands the commitment it takes to answer the call for help, and tragedies like this are felt throughout our profession.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, coworkers, and loved ones of the two paramedics and the patient who lost their lives. Our thoughts are also with the driver of the other vehicle, and with everyone in the emergency services community who has been affected by this tragedy.
