University of Waterloo:

A two year old Environmental building has won a LEEDS award, which incorporates an interior living wall with plants interweaved into a mesh blanket that has water flowing throughout and   cleans and balances building humidity. There are also lawn rainwater capture areas that are used for building gray water, such as toilets.

–    There are three new multi-million dollar buildings in construction phase for Administration, Biology and a food services production kitchen and a Health Science addition.

–    A hiring freeze began in the New Year with the exception of mission critical hiring.

–    Pledge cards started off slowly but the pace has increased due to the unstable employment threat and the Provincial election.
