TORONTO, ON – Wednesday morning at Queen’s Park, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario will release a legal opinion from Steven Shrybman, a partner at Sack Goldblatt Mitchell, on the provincial government’s plans to sell a stake in Hydro One.
CUPE requested the opinion because of concerns over the legality of government plans to sell all or part of the publicly owned electrical transmission and distribution system.
In 2002, Shrybman led a successful court challenge that effectively stopped cold plans by P.C. Premier Ernie Eves to sell off Hydro One.
WHO: Fred Hahn, President, CUPE Ontario and Steven Shrybman, Partner, Sack Goldblatt Mitchell
WHAT: Release of legal opinion on Hydro One sale
WHERE: Queen’s Park Media Studio
WHEN: 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 15
CUPE is Ontario’s community union, with members providing quality public services we all rely on, in every part of the province, every day. CUPE Ontario members are proud to work in social services, health care, municipalities, school boards, universities and airlines.
