NORTH BAY, ON – Members of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 122, representing municipal workers with the City of North Bay, reached a tentative collective agreement overnight with their employer. If ratified, the new contract will take effect January 1, 2017 and will expire in three years.
“Our members are so proud to deliver great city services in North Bay,” says Brian Phillips, president of CUPE Local 122. “We are an integral part of the community here, and we are pleased we were able to reach a fair deal that we can recommend to our members.”
The local has tentatively scheduled a ratification vote in about a week’s time, and no details of the settlement will be released until members have had an opportunity to review it and vote.
Local 122 represents roughly 300 members, in departments as diverse as roads, parks, transit, the waste transfer station, water and wastewater, city hall administration, and much more. This deal does not include North Bay library workers, who are also represented by CUPE Local 122.
