TORONTO, ON – Maureen O’Reilly, President of Local 4948 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE Local 4948 – The Toronto Public Library Workers Union) announced today the union has reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract with the Toronto Public Library Board.
“This has been a difficult round of bargaining, but our bargaining committee has secured a deal which we believe addresses some of our concerns and allows Toronto’s library workers to continue to provide great services in the city’s 100 branches,” said O’Reilly.
The ratification will be scheduled in the coming days. O’Reilly said that until members have reviewed and voted on the contract, Local 4948 will be making no further public comments about the details of the deal.
Local 4948 represents about 2200 library workers in Toronto’s public libraries.
