GUELPH, ON – Members of OCEU/CUPE 1750 have been on the picket lines across the province for six days. In Guelph, the members on the picket line have been greeted with warmth and solidarity from members of the community who understand what they are fighting for.
Yesterday, the picket line was joined by members of AMAPCEO, who gave up their lunch break to support the striking workers. “Knowing that my community has our back is really helpful,” said Stephanie Duggan, the head picket captain for Guelph. “We’ve had local businesses and other members of the community come to support as well. It let’s us know we’re not alone.”
The members of OCEU were locked out of their work systems last Thursday after announcing rolling strikes. The Guelph picket line will be outside the Service Ontario on Stone Road in Guelph until a deal is reached.
