Right now, when a child with developmental disabilities enters adulthood, they may qualify for adult services, including housing support and direct funding through the Passport Program. Unfortunately, many families continue to face extensive waiting lists for services leaving them with little support while their child enters adulthood. It’s all too common for individuals with developmental disabilities to wait years for adequate housing accommodations and passport funding.
Adults living with developmental disabilities are entitled to the services they need to thrive. No family should be left to languish on a never ending waitlist for services.
