CUPE Ontario regrets to inform community members in Ajax, and the region of Durham as a whole, that we are cancelling tonight’s planned Communities, Not Cuts town hall meeting. Community concerns about the risks of COVID-19 are growing and, in taking them seriously, the organizers of the event have decided that canceling tonight’s event is the most appropriate response.
CUPE Ontario apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will keep the community updated about potential plans to reschedule.
We thank the coalition and the planned speakers for putting it together and for defending our services in the community. The Communities, Not Cuts campaign has the goal of addressing the Ford Conservative cuts and what they’ve meant for people across the province. More than ever, with this crisis, we’re seeing the consequences of services being slashed. So, while this single event will have to be postponed, the Communities, Not Cuts campaign is more critical than ever.
