CUPE Ontario Convention 2009
Wednesday May 27 to Saturday May 30 at the Sheraton Hotel, Toronto

Convention Volunteers and Credentials information

Call for convention volunteers

Join other CUPE members and help make our 2009 convention a success! One of the most responsible and important contributions to our convention is the work carried out by the volunteers on our five convention committees. No experience is required. This is a fun opportunity to meet other members and get an inside look at your annual convention.

To be eligible to serve on the Resolutions, Constitution, Ways & Means and Credentials Committees, you must be a registered delegate to the convention. You will be required to attend a pre-convention meeting on the following dates:

Resolutions Committees           •    Mon & Tues, April 27 & 28, CUPE Ontario office
Constitution Committee           •    Wed, April 29, CUPE Ontario office
Ways & Means Committee        •    Thurs & Fri, April 30 & May 1, CUPE Ontario Office
Credentials Committee             •    Tuesday, May 26, at the Sheraton Centre

To serve on the Distribution Committee, you must be a member in good standing but not necessarily a delegate and will be required to attend a meeting Wednesday, May 27st at the Sheraton Centre. CUPE Ontario division will be responsible for payment of expenses for the pre-convention meetings, i.e. per diem ($60 full day; $30 half day), hotel accommodation, lost time and any necessary travel. If you want to serve on a convention committee, contact your local and ask that your name is submitted to the division office ([email protected] or by fax to 416-299-3480) no later than February 16th, 2009. If you have any questions, please contact Katheryne at 416-299-9739 x 305.

Where are my credentials?

If your local has its per capita payments up to date as of December 31, 2008, your local should receive its credentials by the end of February. If your local’s per capita payments are not up to date, the local will have received two reminders by the end of February. For your local to be seated at convention, you must have your credentials AND your per capita must be paid up to the end of March 31, 2009. If you have any questions about your per capita payments, please contact Kelly Belbin at [email protected] or call 416-299-9739 x 306.
