CUPE 2225 Rally

An Invitation From CUPE 2225

Members of CUPE 2225-08 are facing more cuts, the second round in the past year.

At Frost Manor Long-Term Care Residence, 14 PSWs and day and evening RPNs will have their work hours cut. As a result, the elderly and frail residents of Frost Manor Long-Term Care Residence will receive 75 fewer hours of care biweekly.

These cuts to staff hours translate into cuts for residents too: fewer RPNs on the nursing floor each day, and fewer PSWs available to catch up on missed care.

And of course, for CUPE members, the cuts will put more pressure on already overwhelming work loads.

This is a bad move for workers, residents and their families. Care homes like Frost Manor should be increasing the number of care hours and supporting the Time to Care campaign, which calls for a legislated care standard of a minimum 4 hours per resident each day.
