BONFIELD, ON – Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 4616-2, ratified a new collective agreement with the Township of Bonfield last night. The new three-year agreement includes a wage increase and some benefit improvements. This was the first round of negotiations following a difficult 10-month strike that concluded in June, 2014.

“It was important to us to see some genuine cooperation in this round of bargaining,” said Michel Revelin, CUPE National Representative. “Both parties committed to the tough work of repairing our labour relations climate following the dispute in 2013-2014, and that work is ongoing. We feel this round of bargaining represents a key piece of that work, and is also a fair deal for our members.”

CUPE represents 16 members at the Township of Bonfield, both inside and outside workers.

The Township has scheduled its own ratification for later in May.
