Matheson, ON – CUPE 1490 and the Township of Black River-Matheson resumed negotiations today in pursuit of a fair and equitable agreement. Unfortunately, an agreement was not reached during the meeting.

The 13 union members, who have been locked out of their workplaces since October 15, are pleased to be back at the bargaining table and remain hopeful that continued negotiations and meaningful dialogue will lead to a resolution.

Serge Bouchard, President of CUPE 1490, expressed the union’s commitment to a positive and collaborative negotiation approach. “Reaching an agreement is a complex process, but we remain optimistic that constructive dialogue will help us find common ground that meets our needs,” he said.

CUPE 1490 reaffirms its commitment to keeping members and the public informed about developments. The union encourages a collaborative spirit and goodwill as both parties work towards a mutually beneficial resolution.
