Members at the CUPE Ontario Convention in 2018 voted to have our union to create an Anti-Racism Organizational Action Plan – AROAP for short. A full plan was brought forward to the 2019 convention, where delegates made changes and adopted it, along with a requirement to report on progress at each CUPE Ontario Convention.

A committee of members, leaders, and staff have been working to further the plan adopted by the membership, and the Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Program is a hallmark of that work.

The work of AROAP was always intended to be done at all levels of CUPE – the local level, and by sectors and committees provincially.  We want to learn more about what has been happening at the local level.  We need to hear what work members have been engaged in to bring the changes that AROAP asks up all to make.  This is necessary in our collective goal to fight white-supremacy and integrate anti-racism work more fully into our union.
