Our Solutions for the Future

As public sector workers, CUPE members know that short-term solutions to any economic problems just don’t work. We’re calling on government to think long term, to invest in our services and invest in people in order to create a sustainable future for our families and communities.

That’s the same type of approach that CUPE Ontario is proposing to ensure that your union is there to protect your interests, today and every day in the future. CUPE Ontario has had the same flat rate dues structure since it was created in 1963. While the amount members pay has increased,  everyone has paid the same rate.  The same used to be true across the country. But that’s not the case today. CUPE National and almost every local union, along with provincial divisions including British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, and Nova Scotia have all switched to a percentage dues structure.
