Clinton, Ont. Huron County Public Health workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), recently voted 97 per cent in favour of a strike if a fair collective agreement is not reached with their employer.
All we are seeking is a fair deal that respects our members and the services we provide to our communities, said Cindy Simpson, president of CUPE 1305.
Union representatives requested the assistance of a provincial conciliator after hitting a roadblock on the last day of scheduled bargaining, when management refused to consider the union’s proposal. Conciliation talks are scheduled for April 30. Outstanding issues include wages and benefits.
