TORONTO — Talks between CUPE Local 2 and the Toronto Transit Commission continue today with the two parties agreed that no strike or lockout will occur without 48 hours advance notice.

“We are cautiously optimistic that progress is being made on our issues,” said President Mike Santos. CUPE Local 2 represents workers who maintain subway signals and electrical and communication systems for the entire transit network.

Both parties have also agreed that the terms of the current collective agreement will remain in effect past the Tuesday, April 1 strike/lockout deadline provided negotiations continue to move forward.
