Northern Ontario CUPE leaders will be attending a leadership meeting in North Bay earlier in the day to discuss different ways to support Bonfield municipal workers. The 16 workers have been on strike since August 1st, after the Town’s Mayor tried to force the workers to accept major concessions by imposing his own terms and conditions. CUPE has not received a response to its last contract proposal aimed at ending the strike, and is urging the Mayor and Councillors to resume negotiations and reach a fair contract settlement so municipal workers in Bonfield can get back to doing what they do best – providing quality public services for Bonfield residents.
