NORTH BAY, Ont. – The striking municipal workers from the Township of Bonfield will lead the annual North Bay and District Labour Council’s Labour Day Parade on Monday, September 2.
“On Labour Day, we celebrate the many important contributions of working people in our community,” said Henri Giroux, president of the North Bay and District Labour Council. “This year, we are also showing our support for the 16 striking Bonfield municipal workers who are standing up for a fair deal against a Mayor intent on gutting their collective agreement.”

When? Monday, September 2, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Parade of flags at 11:30 a.m.
Where? North Bay Waterfront (on Memorial Park Drive in North Bay)
The 16 workers, on strike since August 1, will be joined by North Bay and area community members, and workers with their families and friends, to mark the annual Labour Day picnic sponsored by North Bay and District Labour Council. “This Labour Day, we are here in solidarity to show support for the Bonfield striking workers and to stand up for fairness. We urge the Mayor and Council of Bonfield to respect workers who helped build the community, and get back to the bargaining table to reach a fair deal so workers can go back to serving the residents of Bonfield.”
