Last night, President Fred Hahn stood alongside CUPE Ontario members and NDP supporters in London West and congratulated Peggy Sattler on her breakthrough victory.

“Last night, Ontarians clearly rejected the anti-worker agenda of Tim Hudak and voted for fairness and respect instead,” said Hahn.  “Voters in London West made an excellent choice. Peggy Sattler will be a strong, progressive voice in the legislature and I am proud to have volunteered on her campaign, along with so many CUPE Ontario members.”

Last night’s byelections saw New Democrats elected by huge margins in London West and Windsor-Tecumseh, with Liberals taking Ottawa South and Scarborough-Guildwood and a lone Tory who is a long-time local politician squeaking to a win in Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

Attracted by Sattler’s progressive message, members came from across London, as well as from Sarnia, Windsor and Hamilton to volunteer on the campaign.
