Every year, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) recognizes the contribution of five retired or deceased trade union activists by adding their names to the OFL’s Labour Honour Roll and awarding two scholarships in their names.

CUPE Ontario congratulates Brother Logan Sellathurai, CUPE Local One, on having earned this honour. Brother Sellathurai’s years of hard work as a union and community activist are well known to CUPE members and this honour is well deserved.

Joining Brother Sellathurai are Sister Brenda Carrigan (OECTA), Sister Beverly McCloskey (UAW/CAW Local 222), Brother James (Jim) Nugent (IAMAW) and Brother Jack Ostroski Sr. (USW Local 2251 – deceased).

Their names will be added to the Labour Honour Roll plaque in the OFL’s office.  We hope their activism will inspire current and future generations of activists to dedicate themselves to the labour movement and progressive social change.
