CAMBRIDGE, Ont. – A tentative agreement was reached, in the early hours of the morning, between the City of Cambridge and its 140 inside municipal workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), ensuring the continuation of in-demand public services for Cambridge residents.
“We worked very hard, and past the midnight deadline, to achieve this tentative deal,” said Marg Pasher, president of CUPE 1882. “Our goal from the very beginning of the bargaining process was to achieve a fair contract which allows our members to continue to serve the residents of Cambridge.”
The front line municipal workers will review and vote on the tentative agreement in upcoming ratification meetings. CUPE 1882 represents ‘inside’ workers who deliver recreational services, city planning, financial and administration, public works support, by-law enforcement, building services, and others.
