TORONTO Shelter and child care workers at Anduhyaun Inc. will return to mediation on November 19 where they will meet with their employer in an effort to avert job action.
Last month, the 26 members of CUPE 4232 voted 100% in favour of strike action.
These workers have no desire to disrupt services to women, children and families, said CUPE National Representative Jim Morrison. But they want their employer to know that they are serious about protecting their health and safety and getting a fair contract.
The workers have been without a contract for more than two years. They are seeking improvements to wages, safety of staff at the shelter for abused women and children, and job security for non-aboriginal staff.
