TORONTO, ON – A majority of Toronto residents want city services maintained, even
if it means increased fees or taxes, says a new poll by Environics research. The poll shows 64 per cent in favour of continued funding for public services.
The poll, commissioned by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) also shows that 84 per cent would like to see spending on public services and programs increased or maintained in the next few years.
46 per cent of Torontonians also believe the Mayor is on the wrong track in addressing the city’s priorities, shows the poll – including four in ten who feel strongly. Just 38 per cent say he is on the right track.
The survey was conducted by telephone among 600 adult Torontonians, between January 10 and 13, 2012. The margin of error for a sample of 600 is plus or minus 4.0 percentage points (at the 95% confidence level).
