Peterborough public services are worth it!

Peterborough coalition flyer

Education & Awareness:

Outside of the Council Watch, the work of the coalition has focused on education, public awareness and mobilization of the membership.

To inform residents of Peterborough about the harm that privatization does to a community, the coalition produced educational materials. Did you know that Economist Hugh Mackenzie has researched and proven that Canadians receive public services worth about half of their annual income?  The average Canadian gets over $15,000 worth of services for their taxes. So, why would we contract out these services that are owned and controlled by the city and us, the taxpayers, to a private company?

Informing and providing research on why private schemes just don’t make sense is key to this campaign. Check out the attached flyer to learn more about Peterborough city services, their cost and how the provincial government has downloaded services to cities.
