HAMILTON, Ont. – The next Ontario government must create jobs, protect pensions and end tax giveaways to corporations, says the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario.

CUPE Ontario President Fred Hahn will bring his concerns to a Hamilton media conference tomorrow, Thursday, September 15.  He will be joined by NDP candidates Monique Taylor and Paul Miller.

WHAT:           Media conference on the Ontario election

WHO:              Fred Hahn, President, CUPE Ontario

Monique Taylor, NDP Candidate for Hamilton Mountain

Paul Miller, NDP Candidate for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek

WHEN:           Thursday, September 15, at 12:00 PM

WHERE:        Workers Arts & Heritage Centre, 51 Stuart St, Hamilton

The Ontario Liberals under Dalton McGuinty have not done enough to earn the support of working families.  Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak has made it clear that a government under his leadership would further deregulate the economy and privatize public services.

CUPE Ontario is actively encouraging its members to support the NDP in the October 6 provincial election.  In Hamilton Mountain, this means supporting Monique Taylor, a long-time community activist and city councillor assistant.  In Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, CUPE is supporting incumbent MPP Paul Miller.
