THE POOR PEOPLES’ ASSEMBLY
Saturday March 19th, 2 P.M.
Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre –
1900 Davenport Road, Toronto

FREE MEAL / ON SITE CHILD CARE /SPANISH, SOMALI & ASL Translation

In various cities across Ontario, poor people and their allies will be holding assemblies to plan a fight back and challenge the Liberal government on its attack on the poor. To organize our actions and build a provincial movement all CUPE Ontario members are invited to attend the Poor People’s Assembly and join people facing poverty in this province, as well as community and labour organizations.

This Assembly is part of the Raise the Rates campaign that was adopted by the membership during the 2010 Convention.  The Raise the Rates campaign calls for the special diet allowance to be restored and for an increase to welfare and disability rates. The province needs to address poverty with real concrete measures rather than instituting more cuts.

This Saturday come hear speakers and join Fred Hahn and others to help build the fight against poverty in Ontario.

THE ASSEMBLY IS PRESENTED BY: Bread & Bricks Social Justice Group, the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty and CUPE Ontario.
