OTTAWA, Ont. – A tentative agreement was reached late last night between Carleton University and representatives of Local 2424 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing 700 professional, office, technical and support staff at Carleton University, on strike since September 5.

“We are happy that we’ve finally been able to come to a tentative agreement that, if ratified, will end the strike at Carleton,” said Susan Arab, CUPE national representative. Details of the agreement will not be released until it has been presented to members of CUPE 2424 for a ratification vote.

“At this time, we would also like to thank students and the university community for their support during our labour conflict,” added Arab.
