Toronto, ON—“We learned today of the passing of Fred Taylor, CUPE Ontario’s founding President, over the weekend.

As workers, we all owe a debt of thanks to Brother Fred for his service to working people. Fred was a true pioneer who served as CUPE Ontario’s founding President in 1962. From the humble seeds Fred planted, CUPE Ontario has flourished in the ensuing 40 years.

Our hearts go out to Fred’s family for their loss. I hope his wife Elizabeth, children Paul Lynn and Eric and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren know our thoughts and prayers are with them in their time of need.

I wish to take this opportunity to honour and thank Brother Fred for his service to his country and to our union, on behalf of the 230,000 members who belong to CUPE Ontario. Fred was a pioneer whose contributions will endure for many years to come.
