Sisters and Brothers,
As of 4:45 am this morning the bus drivers’ unit of the Red Cross (L966) have gone on strike in an attempt to get a first collective agreement.
Sister Helen Gibb-Gavel has indicated that scab labour has been put in place and that the buses have been moved off their usual lot.
At the moment they are unaware of where they have been located.
Tentatively, Local 79 is coming on Thursday to support them and there is a request in for Local 416 at this time to also help out.
This is a fairly small local and they need lots of help on the line.
If there are any reps that have some time to help out, I am sure Sister Helen would appreciate it. The location is 5700 Cancross Rd, Mississauga. (West of Huronia, off of Matheson)
