We are CUPE 1656 members who work hard every day to provide the services you rely on in the Region of Waterloo, including providing clean drinking water, airport services, regional road maintenance, maintenance of emergency vehicles, and landfill services.

Waterloo Regional Council lied to us.

We are currently in negotiations with Waterloo Regional Council. They offered us higher wages one day, and then took back their offer the next.

Unfortunately, this unfair treatment by Waterloo Region has us facing a possible strike, meaning services in the region could be disrupted as soon as March 3.

We need your help to avoid a strike so that we can continue to provide vital public services.

Please contact Waterloo Regional Council and your local councilor and tell them to honour their commitment to CUPE 1656 members so that we can avoid a strike on March 3.

Subject: Waterloo Regional Council: Honour Your Commitment to CUPE 1656 Members!

Email:

Waterloo Regional Council,

I am writing today to express my disappointment in the treatment of CUPE Local 1656 members by the Region of Waterloo during their current round of bargaining negotiations.

It is unfair and dishonest that the Region offered wage increases to CUPE 1656 members during one round of negotiations, and are now walking it back, presenting lower increases than originally proposed.

CUPE 1656 members work hard to provide vital services to our communities. They deserve a fair deal, and an employer that keeps their word.

I am urging you to honour your commitment to Local 1656 members and return to the bargaining table with the original wage proposals offered by Waterloo Regional Council so that they can reach a fair deal and avoid a strike that would disrupt services in our community that residents depend on.

Thank you for your time.
