CUPE Ontario extends congratulations and deep appreciation to OPSEU members, negotiators and leaders on the deal that has been ratified following the union’s strike at the LCBO.

The issues at stake in this strike had an impact on all of us across the province. LCBO workers were engaged in a fight not only for better pay and conditions, but in defense of public services, against the forces of privatization, and against the greed and corruption of the Ford Conservatives.

Ontarians everywhere owe these workers and their union an enormous debt of gratitude. Thanks to their conviction, organization and determination to stand up to their employer and to the Conservatives, they have ensured that we will continue to benefit from clear access to publicly administered sales of safe alcoholic beverages; good jobs in communities throughout Ontario; and perhaps most importantly, $2.5 billion every year to invest in our public services.

On behalf the 290,000 workers represented by CUPE Ontario, we thank OPSEU members for their strength and steadfastness in seeing their strike through to this successful conclusion.
