From maintaining parks and community centres, to keeping streets safe, the members of CUPE Local 966 in Public Works and Parks and Recreation at the Town of Caledon are the backbone of the community. They ensure that residents have access to safe and beautiful parks, arenas, and community centres. They maintain safe roads, and repair the town’s vehicles, including repairs to emergency vehicles. These workers take great pride in delivering critical service to the residents of the Town of Caledon.
But many of them can’t even afford to live in the communities they work in. The high cost of living in Caledon combined with a less competitive wage structure could negatively impact the recruitment and retention of staff who will continue to maintain their commitment to the high quality of service they provide to the community.
That’s why the workers for CUPE 966 are making a call for a real wage increase in bargaining with the Town of Caledon.
Let’s work together to ensure that the services residents depend on will keep up with Caledon’s growing community by calling for a wage structure that will attract workers from other communities.
