University says it is willing to meet ‘anytime to receive a meaningful counteroffer’

The union representing teaching assistants (TAs) and research assistants (RAs) with McMaster University says “informal talks” have begun between the two parties about returning to the bargaining table, as a weeks-long strike continues.

The TAs and RAs, members of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local 3906, have been on strike and picketing at campus entrances since Nov. 21.

A picket line popped up downtown Wednesday at 10 Bay St., where McMaster is constructing a new building for graduate student housing.
