Existing inequality has gotten much worse over the course of the pandemic. The wealth of billionaires grew by billions while incomes for everyday Ontarians continues to fall behind the skyrocketing cost of living—making Ontario the province with the highest income inequality in Canada.
Far too many Ontarians are now stretched thin and stressed out.
We need to take action to reverse years of tax cuts for the wealthy.
The wealthiest must pay their share for the services that keep our communities strong. It’s time to institute changes to our tax system where those who can afford to pay more start paying their fair share.
Send a message to Doug Ford
Dear Premier Doug Ford:
At a time when far too many Ontarians are visiting food banks, confronted by wage restraint legislation, and seeing their social assistance rates fall far behind the skyrocketing cost of living, you have allowed the rich to get richer.
Corporations and the wealthiest Ontarians have benefited from tax cuts, loopholes, and subsidies during an unprecedented crisis. This follows many years of tax cuts that have gutted the public services people rely on.
It’s time for a change of course. It’s time to bridge the gap between the rich and the rest of us. It’s time for fairness. It’s time for you to make Ontario a more equitable province by instituting changes to our tax system where those who can afford to pay more start paying their fair share.
Sincerely,
