BRADFORD, ON – Library workers in Bradford West Gwillimbury became the newest members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), following a very strong vote yesterday.

“This is a group or workers who got together and decided it was time to make positive changes in their workplace,” said Craig Saunders, a CUPE representative who has been involved in the organizing drive. “They’re very passionate about their work and want to make changes that will improve staff retention and library services.”

More than 22,000 library workers are CUPE members, including those in nearby municipalities such as Newmarket, Aurora, Georgina, New Tecumseth, Richmond Hill, Markham and Vaughan.
