The work of addressing and challenging anti-Indigenous and anti-Black racism in our communities is something we must also do in our own union.
When CUPE Ontario’s Anti-Racism Organizational Action Plan (AROAP) was adopted by members at our Convention, the goal was to root out these forms of racism in CUPE Ontario by identifying the practices and policies that act as barriers to participation for racialized and indigenous members.
Our last Convention also mandated that the AROAP Steering Committee include members beyond our Executive Board and Committtees.
We’re inviting CUPE Ontario members to join the committee and help create an organization that’s stronger and that truly includes and represents everyone, and a union that is better able to oppose racism in all our communities.
Please apply:
- If you are a Black, Indigenous, or racialized member;
- Regardless of experience, both members with leadership experience and new activists are welcome;
- Have experience on local committees;
- We also encourage casual and more precarious workers to apply.
