Dear Doug Ford,

I am writing today to urge your government to conclude fair deals with members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), and L’Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO).

Teachers and education workers are the backbone of our school system. You owe it to them to address violence in schools, increase support for special education, keep class sizes down, preserve full-day kindergarten, and ensure fair and transparent hiring.

Your government’s foot dragging during this bargaining process has been shameful. We are losing patience with your inability to give meaningful and serious responses to workers’ key proposals.

Parents, teachers, and education workers know your austerity agenda is harmful to our students’ education and future. You should be investing in our schools and in our communities, not doubling down on cuts.

Teachers and education workers are, and have always been, prepared to defend their ability to provide the best possible learning environment for students. As they have been there for our children, we are there for them now: standing in solidarity for better working and learning conditions across Ontario.

Sincerely,
