COLLINGWOOD, ON – Fred Hahn, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario, will join a busload of members for the Stand Up for Ontario rally in Collingwood this Saturday.
“Thanks to this Liberal government, Ontario has the lowest public program spending in Canada, and we’re all feeling the effects. Hospital closures, turmoil in education, huge wait lists for child care and long-term care, people are feeling the pain in every corner of the province,” says Hahn. “Their plan to sell Hydro One will only make the pain much, much worse. Just imagine the cuts in schools and health care centres when the same strained budgets have to pay two or three times more for hydro.”
Hahn and CUPE Ontario Secretary-Treasurer Candace Rennick will be joined by leaders from the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, Ontario Public Service Employees Union and Ontario Federation of Labour, among others.
