Convention Committees
One of the most responsible and important contributions to an efficient Convention is the work carried out by the five Convention committees:
· RESOLUTIONS
· CONSTITUTIONS
· WAYS & MEANS
· CREDENTIALS
· DISTRIBUTION
To be eligible to serve on the Resolutions, Constitution, Ways & Means Committees and Credentials committees, you must be a registered delegate to the Convention. [Article 4(i)] You will be required to attend pre-Convention meetings as follows:
Resolutions Committees · Mon & Tues, Apr 2 & 3, CUPE Ontario office
Constitutions Committee · Wed & Thurs, Apr 4 & 5, CUPE Ontario office
Ways & Means Committee · Tues to Fri, May 1 to 4 at CUPE Ontario office
Credentials Committee · Tues, May 22 at the Caesars Windsor
Distribution Committee · Wed, May 23 at the Caesars Windsor
As per our CUPE Ontario Policy Manual adopted in 2010 by our Executive Board, the Resolutions committee will have a maximum of 7 members; Constitutions committee 5 members; Ways & Means committee 3 members; Credentials committee 15 members.
If you wish to serve on a Convention committee (meeting the above requirements), contact your local and ask that your name is submitted to the Division Office to the attention of Stephanie Malinsky ([email protected]) no later than March 1st so that selections may be made.
The Division will be responsible for payment of expenses for the pre-Convention meetings, i.e. per diem ($60 full day; $30 half day), hotel accommodation, lost time and any necessary travel.
