WHITBY, Ont. – Durham ‘inside’ municipal workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), voted today and ratified a four-year agreement with the Region of Durham.

“Our members will be going back to work with their heads held high and we thank all our supporters and Durham residents for their patience during the strike,” said Pauline Hopley, president of CUPE 1764. “Delivering public services is what our members do best and we will continue to do that when we all return to work this week.”

Durham Regional Council is scheduled to reconvene this Thursday and ratify the contract. The workers will return to work by Friday, July 11, once the agreement is ratified by Durham Region.
